New York isn’t ignorant about the entire unidentified flying object ordeal. In fact, it’s reported to be one of the states with the highest annual UFO sightings.

In 2023 alone, it registered 30 UFO sightings and 57 in early 2024, according to the National UFO Reporting Center. Among these is one that many civilians might have witnessed as it happened during the widely anticipated and popular event in the area.

The alleged Blue Angels UFO sighting occurred on May 25, 2024, during the Blue Angels air show over Jones Beach in Long Island.

However, while many people were present, the incident is still widely contested—and for good reason. What truly happened that day, and what was it that joined the celebrated air show?

What Was Seen During the Blue Angels Air Show at Jones Beach?

What broke the news to the public was a video footage submitted to TMZ. It showed an unidentified flying object whizzing past one of the US Navy’s F/A-18 Super Hornet while they were performing at the Memorial Day air show over Jones Beach on May 25, 2024.

The footage was only a couple of seconds long, with the object appearing for a fraction of it, quickly darting from one side to the other. A slowed-down version of it vaguely suggests what the craft might be: a silver disk-shaped object.

In a report recorded by the National UFO Reporting Center, dated May 25, 2024, at 2:20 PM, the witness described it with the following characteristics:

  • Shape: Unknown
  • Color: Pale to darker
  • Speed: 20,000 ft in 3 seconds

From the reporter’s location, the object was estimated to be 36,500 to 41,000 ft above the ground and was observed to travel north-northwest. They further recounted the event:

Held at arm’s length, UAP was about the size of a slightly less than a pea, but greater than a grain of rice. Going very fast for a craft that high. No trails seen … Then, saw it take an immediate and distinct 90° turn downward to about 18,000 feet within two to maybe 3 seconds … Not the Blue Angels. Not commercial. Appeared relatively normal until it took the 90° turn and accelerated downward in the same position but to a lower altitude.

Was the Object in the Sky a Genuine UFO?

While it was very useful for understanding the events that day, the reporter’s description does little to identify the craft.

This, coupled with the lack of corroborating witnesses and clearer footage, has contributed to the reasons why the Blue Angels UFO sighting is still contested to this day. No single conclusion has been reached, nor was there any effort to examine the encounter further.

Aside from the acknowledgement that it had truly happened, given the video footage, and the recognition that the Blue Angels UFO sighting could be a compelling encounter, discussions haven’t expanded further.

What Do Experts and Officials Say About This Sighting?

Believers have quickly tagged the event as a genuine extraterrestrial encounter. However, authorities were also quick to shut down speculations by saying it may simply be:

  • A balloon
  • A drone

Some also believed it could have been a machine powered by secret government technology; however, all of these amount to mere speculation.

As far as records show, no public statements or Blue Angel press release specifically addressed what the Jones Beach clip was. While the Pentagon has launched a website to track UFOs, the All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) hasn’t singled out the event.

To move beyond speculations, more information would be needed to form a solid conclusion. This can include more footage, proof that the released video hasn’t been tampered with, radar data, and more witness statements. However, none of these have been released so far, placing the event and the object as mere mysteries.

What Makes This Sighting Stand Out from Other UFO Reports?

The alleged Blue Angels UFO event is remarkable not only for what was seen, but also for where and when it was recorded. Several unique factors set it apart from the typical encounters.

Most UFO reports involve random sightings under uncontrolled conditions, but the Blue Angels UFO happened during the Bethpage Air Show, a heavily monitored event with:

  1. A long list of Navy teams performing
  2. Strict FAA restrictions
  3. Radar monitoring

With this kind of show, anything entering the area would have been easily recognized and reported due to the safety protocols.

This reduces the likelihood that what was caught in the video was a balloon or a drone. It also makes the lack of a public statement from the authorities all the more interesting.

The timing of this encounter also adds to its intrigue.

The Blue Angels UFO sighting occurred during heightened scrutiny of UAP/UFOs. In fact, in March that year, an airplane passenger named Michelle Reyes reported seeing a possible UFO while on a flight above LaGuardia Airport.

Hence, any UAP sighting in a public setting immediately triggers strong public interest. The incident sits at the intersection of a public encounter, a military event, and the UFO mystery, making it more intriguing than other reports.

How Does This Sighting Fit Into the Bigger Picture of UAPs in the US?

The Blue Angels UFO sighting doesn’t exist in isolation. It fits within the evolving nature and discussion of UFOs, including military encounters and the public’s call for transparency.

Many of the most significant UFO encounters over the past years have involved the military. You have the infamous “Tic Tac Incident,” the Gimbal, and the GoFast videos. These repeated encounters are gradually forming a pattern of military-adjacent UFO sightings, which, if anything, should have prompted the military to conduct an in-depth investigation into the matter.

Not only did this encounter involve the military, but also the public.

With the Blue Angels show being opened for an audience to watch, the UFO encounter fits into the increasing cases of civilian UFO reports. This underscores how the phenomenon is no longer taboo, and more people already have relative encounters.

From a broader perspective, the Blue Angels UFO sighting is among encounters that should have merited a more serious investigation and public awareness of what truly happened. However, the public remains in the dark about these situations, relying only on speculation and community discussions.
