Eduard Albert “Billy” Meier was born in an ordinary family, the second of Julius and Bertha’s seven children. However, the same can’t be said about his life’s journey.
He became famous for the stunningly high-quality photographs and films of UFO ships (or beamships, as the extraterrestrial beings he met, the Plejaren, called them). From there, the world became aware of the sensational “Billy Meier story,” in which he was said to have been in contact with extraterrestrial beings since childhood.
His contact with one of them, known as Semjase, in the late 1970s led him to establish the UFO religion, Freie Interessengemeinschaft für Grenz- und Geisteswissenschaften und UFOlogie-Studien (Free Community of Interests for the Border and Spiritual Sciences and Ufological Studies, FIGU).
So, how did the “Billy Meier UFO story” begin?
His CE-3 Experience With Extraterrestrial Beings
Meeting Sfath
Billy Meier first encountered the Plejaren beings when he was five years old. Initially, the contact was made telepathically, where he could hear a voice and see strange symbols in his mind. This voice would encourage him to learn these symbols and how to use his consciousness to communicate with the “voice.”
One day, the now familiar voice asked him to go to this meadow in the middle of the forest. There, he saw a pear-shaped, metal ship slowly and noiselessly land in front of him.
A hatch opened, and an older man came out. He used a platform to float towards Meier. Once he was close, he motioned for Meier to step onto the platform that would take them to the hatch to enter the ship.
The older man was named Sfath, a member of the Plejaren race. Sfath taught him things, mostly about spiritual teachings and the “mission” he had to take.
The mission was to spread these three teachings:
- Teachings of the Spirit
- Teachings of Life
- Teachings of Truth
His education under Sfath, which included journeys to the past and future, lasted for 11 years, from 1942 to 1953.
Meeting Asket
After 16-year-old Meier said goodbye to Sfath, a female telepathically greeted and introduced herself to him, named Asket.
For the first three years, Meier and Asket communicated telepathically. It wasn’t until his birthday in 1956 that both of them finally met in person.
Like Sfath, Asket taught him various things, including trips to the past and future, which would enable him to have firsthand experience and knowledge. Her teachings would continue for 11 years, from 1953 to 1964.
One of the significant lessons Asket taught him was related to an accident that would cause him to lose his left arm. Asket told him this sometime in the 1950s, which enabled him to accept this episode of his life.
To give you context, while Meier was traveling in Turkey on August 3, 1964, the bus he was on was involved in a crash with another bus. The other bus’s driver was drunk and rammed into theirs. He was then thrown out of the window, leaving his left arm smashed and crushed; it had to be surgically removed.
Meier was asked in an interview if Asket gave any reason why losing his arm was necessary. This was his answer:
She told me I was going to learn things in terms of self-control, in terms of dealing with my own thoughts and feelings, and in terms of my own psychology, and so forth. … [The arm] didn’t give me any problems, didn’t cause any problems, and so on, because I just accepted it as it happened.
Meeting Semjase
It took 11 years after Asket for Meier to connect with another extraterrestrial being. Semjase, a Plejaren from the planet Erra, first made telepathic contact with him on January 28, 1975.
Unlike with Sfath and Asket, Meier journaled his conversations with Semjase. Many of these conversations are publicly available through the book series, The Contact Reports.
What was significant about his contact with Semjase was that he got permission to take photographs and films of their spaceships, which the Plejaren called “beamships.”
According to Meier, Semjase and the Plejaren commissioned him for this because:
This material was intended to spark a worldwide UFO controversy so that people on Earth would finally wake up to the reality of extraterrestrial life, which would logically force the authorities and military to disclose their secret findings and research on UFOs and make them available to the public.
In certain countries, false denials of UFO crashes and recovery of crashed UFOs and their crews were also to be exposed and clarified.
Reasons for the Plejaren’s Visit to Earth
According to Meier, the Plejaren are here to provide the people of Earth advice and guidance. Specifically (in verbatim):
1. Present a series of facts about the history of Earth’s society. By understanding these, we can make an “evolutive progress,” where we learn to clear “any and all deep-rooted beliefs and dogma that have been indoctrinated in us since ancient times.” Freeing ourselves from this “mental captivity” rests on each of us through our own thinking, investigative work, and truth-finding.
2. Teach us that heaven and hell don’t exist in a religious sense. The concepts born from this are fear-based methods of control used to make followers fearful and obedient slaves of faith.
3. Teach us that throughout the entire universe, there exists only one Creation, which is also called the Universal Consciousness. The Creation is not a God who watches over us and tells us what to do. It’s a natural spirit energy form based on causal evolution, out of which the causal- and evolution-related Creational laws and recommendations are given.
4. Warn us about overpopulation. Earth’s resources are only enough for 529 million people, not 9+ billion people. They recommend having controlled worldwide birth stops in seven-year intervals to resolve the issue. Here’s how it will work:
| Years 1 to 7 | Year 8 | Years 9 to 15 |
| No new births worldwide. | Births approved by permission. | Another set of birth cessation worldwide. |
5. Teach us that belief and faith are illusions created by man, and don’t represent anything true about life. We need to get rid of it for these reasons:
a. People who are under the immense power of belief and faith are deprived of their intellect, reason, and logic, and are no longer able to think freely.
b. Many are afraid to leave religious institutions because the Divine punishment of burning in hell has been hammered into them over their lifetime, which creates an inner fear that’s very powerful and difficult to get rid of.
6. Tell us that we must learn to bear our own responsibility and act consciously in a progressive manner. For humanity to change for the better, we must start within ourselves. Each of us must be responsible for every thought, action, emotion, and perception to become a decent, rational, and responsible person. When we are, the “results rub off on the next person,” creating a domino effect.
7. Teach us the Creational laws and recommendations. We already know and practice some of these:
a. Law of Contrariness, aka the Law of Contrast or the Law of Opposites
b. Law of Causality, aka the Law of Cause and Effect
c. Law of Becoming and Passing Away, aka the Law of the Cycle
Why the Plejaren Only Contacted Billy Meier
In Semjase’s 24th contact with Meier, she explained why it’s “completely impossible” for them to contact another person aside from him.
Note: We’ll give you the simplified explanation of the reasons below. If you want to read the entire text, feel free to visit FIGU’s Ufology section.
- They only choose people who are:
- Spiritually ready
- Highly smart and educated
- Able to understand profound truths on their own, without copying others
- Safe and trustworthy in every respect
- Not going to cause them troubles, such as using the situation to gain fame or money
- If they ever contact someone who doesn’t meet these requirements, it’s only for a temporary reason or mission. After it’s done, that person’s memory of their contact is erased (same as forgetting a dream the next morning).
They also don’t give these people tasks that would require public appearances because they continuously forget what happened anyway. But even then, the person must still have extensive knowledge about certain things, such as the man who found the Talmud (Jmmanual). He was great with languages, but wasn’t the right person for more work. - They don’t want to involve too many people because everything would fall apart. As the saying goes, “Too many cooks spoil the broth.”
- They try to stay hidden and don’t appear in front of people longer than is necessary. They don’t want anyone, especially governments or the military, to find or steal their beamships and technology. Also, if too many people saw them, it could scare everyone and cause serious problems.
The Contact Reports
Billy Meier had come into contact with multiple Plejaren from the ANKAR universe and with their federation members. This contact between them and Meier will continue as long as he is alive.
These are the first 10 extraterrestrial beings out of the 2,376 mission-related and personal contacts and 1,324 telepathic contacts that he had (as of July 2023).
| Name | Origin | Contact Period |
|---|---|---|
| Sfath | Erra (Plejaren System) | 1942–1953 |
| Asket | Timar (DAL Universe) | 1953–1964; 3.2.2004 |
| Semjase | Erra (Plejaren System) | 28.1.1975–3.2.1984; 3.2.2004 |
| Quetzal | Erra (Plejaren System) | 27.6.1975–present |
| Ptaah | Erra (Plejaren System) | 17.7.1975–present |

Each of these extraterrestrials left Meier with profound teachings and experiences in the name of the “mission” entrusted to him since Sfath.
So, to fulfill this mission, one of the things he did was compile the communications he had with these extraterrestrial beings, starting with Semjase’s, in this series of reports. Meier said that these reports contain a gift of invaluable knowledge to the people of Earth.
There are currently 22 published Plejadisch-plejarische Kontaktberichte (Pleiadian-Plejaren Contact Reports) as of June 2024.
His Contributions to Ufology
No one can deny that Billy Meier has done things that made the general public open up to the discussion of UFOs/UAPs. Here are three of the most significant ones in his nearly 85 years of contact with extraterrestrial beings.
Photographs and Films of the Plejaren Beamships
Between 1975 and 1980, the world was treated to excellent photographs and films of the Plejaren’s beamships sprawled across Switzerland’s countryside. These were also the reasons for his shot at fame.
Many UFO/UAP investigators came to Meier to examine his photographs and films, including Lt. Col. Wendelle Stevens, Gary Kinder, and Guido Moosbrugger. Each of them published at least one book about their investigations of these photographs and films, as well as the entirety of Meier’s story.
The Controversy Behind Meier’s Photographs and Films
Many critics and skeptics claimed that the so-called authentic photographs and films were made from small models, and that Meier used double exposures and manipulations when taking them. It was even revealed later that he “used scrap metals and polished them up” to become the beamships.
When the issue first came up, Meier defended himself, saying:
[The claims] are beyond ridiculous. There are enough witnesses who have seen or photographed the beamships and even the extraterrestrials themselves, and can also testify that I never made or took models with me when we drove to contacts together. I could never have done such a thing secretly because my wife would never have allowed it.
So, I don’t need to defend myself and can only laugh at the envious stupidity of the slanderers. Any further comment is therefore superfluous.
Freie Interessengemeinschaft für Grenz- und Geisteswissenschaften und UFOlogie-Studien
Meier established the nonprofit community FIGU to disseminate worldwide the truth of creational-natural laws and recommendations, and the way of life that Earth humans should live by.
Its members come from diverse ordinary backgrounds, such as farmers, teachers, and office workers, who voluntarily carry out FIGU’s mission in their free time.
Teaching of the Truth, Teaching of the Creation-Energy, Teaching of Life
Out of the more than 80 books Meier has written, this book is Meier’s “dissertation of the truth.” It’s a culmination of the mission he was given, so to speak.
It delivers a series of teachings on the meaning of life, the human experience, and the path towards knowledge, wisdom, peace, and love.
You can explore more through UFO Connect, a UFO resource hub that includes detailed UFO reports and an extensive UFO archive supporting Meier’s lifelong mission.
FAQ
How much truth is there behind Billy Meier’s story?
Objectively, no one can concretely discern the truth behind Meier’s story. If you want to know which is true or untrue, you have to investigate and analyze it yourself.
Is it true that mainstream Ufology ignores Billy Meier’s case?
According to Michael Horn, who has investigated Billy Meier’s case for 40 years, yes. He said that the core of this case is “a teaching that will help us ensure our future survival.”8
Because of that, UFO investigators and researchers fall short of understanding the depth of evidence Meier has openly brought out.
