This was what George Adamski casually claimed during one of his many discussions about UFOs at the Giant Rock Convention in 1955. His conviction over his tales of repeated UFO contact made them believable, and this adamance was what precisely made him both compelling and a laughing stock to the public.

From 1913 to 1916, he served in the 13th Cavalry of the U.S. Army and fought along the Mexican border. After this three-year stint in the army, Adamski took on various jobs before founding and leading a mystical group, the Royal Order of Tibet, in 1934.

He initially planned to establish the group as the first Tibetan monastery in the U.S., teaching its members his so-called “Universal Law,” a blend of theosophy and Christianity. Unfortunately, the Royal Order of Tibet appeared to be short-lived.

In 1936, Adamski’s name resurfaced, but this time he had led another group, Universal Progressive Christianity.

By 1940, he had severed all ties to these groups and bought a ranch near Palomar Mountain. He later developed the site into a campground, complete with a small diner, a garden, and his small observatory, which housed his 6- and 15-inch telescopes.

Adamski then led a quiet life, remaining so until World War II. His name came back up into conversations during the postwar UFO hysteria, and this time, it would be here to stay.

It was unknown whether George Adamski had any interest in the occult or in extraterrestrial matters. What was known was that he had somehow become a favorite contactee with his repeated encounters, and it all began on October 6, 1946.

His first sighting occurred at his campground, where he and his friends were watching a meteor shower, when a cigar-shaped object caught their attention. Adamski called this a “mother ship,” and described its appearance as “a large black object, similar to a gigantic dirigible.”

The Start of His Repeated Encounters and Rise to Recognition

Months later, he would report having seen the same craft fly past the moon, and despite there being no record of it, Adamski also claimed to have taken a photo of it. Surprisingly, many people believed his words, and this would spark his first glimpse of glory.

November 20, 1952: His First Contact

At 12:30 PM on November 20, 1952, he and six others were out eating lunch near the California-Arizona border while being on the lookout for flying saucers. They were just about to give up when a silvery, cigar-shaped object flew across the sky.

At first glance, it looked like a fuselage of a very large ship with the sun’s rays reflecting brightly from its unpainted sides, at an altitude and angle where wings might not be noticeable.

The group erupted into evident excitement. However, Adamski didn’t want to be conspicuous by setting up his telescope in the middle of the area. So, they decided to follow the craft, with Adamski exclaiming:

Take me down the road, quick! The ship has come looking for me, and I don’t want to keep them waiting! Maybe the saucer is already up there somewhere, afraid to come down here where too many people would see them.

His secretary, Lucy McGinnis, drove them to the desert, with the ship trailing their car. They stopped in the middle of nowhere, where Adamski immediately set up his gear. He also instructed his companions to return so they would avoid frightening the visitors.

Not more than five minutes later, he saw the craft hovering between the mountain peaks and settling into one of the coves. He managed to snap several photos from both his camera and the Brownie, hoping they would turn out well, before the saucer disappeared.

However, that wasn’t the end of his first close encounter.

The Venusian Man: Orthon

Suddenly, my reverie was broken as my attention was called to a man standing at the entrance of a ravine between two low hills … He was motioning to me to come to him, and I wondered who he was and where he had come from.

Upon close inspection, Adamski described the man:

• About 5’6 and weighed about 135 pounds
• Chocolate brown one-piece garment with ski-like trousers
• Long, sandy-colored hair reaching his shoulders
• Round-faced with an extremely high forehead
• Large, calm grey-green eyes
• Slightly higher cheekbones
• Finely chiselled nose
• Even, medium-colored suntan

He was confident his companions could see the encounter, and this would later be corroborated by Alice Wells’s sketch of the man.

Throughout their interaction, Adamski reported feeling no threat from the being. In fact, he had nothing but praise for the pleasant experience.

I felt like a little child in the presence of one with great wisdom and much love, and I became very humble within myself, for from him was radiating a feeling of infinite understanding and kindness, with supreme humility.

The Reason for His Visit

George Adamski’s first attempt at communicating with Orthon failed. The man didn’t seem to understand his words, but Adamski always believed there were other ways of communicating, and one that he tried that day was telepathy.

The first thing he asked was where the man came from, to which he got the answer, “Venus.” Adamski then asked why he had come to Earth. Orthon reasoned that they were concerned about radiation emanating from Earth and its effects on outer space.

He made me understand—by gesturing with his hands to indicate cloud formations from explosions. Then, further to explain himself, he touched me, then as a little weed growing close by, and next pointed to the Earth itself, and with a wide sweep of his hands and other gestures that too many ‘Booms!’ would destroy all of this.

The message was clear, and Adamski was certain the being’s visit was intentional. Aside from their conversation, he also claimed that the man’s shoes left imprints with valuable information. When Orthon left, Adamski gathered his friends, and they were all in awe of the prints, taking photos and making casts of both soles to examine them.

December 13, 1952: The Return Visit

Just a few weeks after his first contact, Adamski would report having another close encounter. On the morning of December 13, 1952, he would be alerted by something roaring in the sky. He caught a glimpse of a flash before it disappeared, and again reappeared by 9 AM.

I was able to observe it gliding noiselessly in my direction—an iridescent glass-like craft flashing its brilliant colors in the morning sun! It was as if the pilot of this craft knew I was there and was waiting! A warm glow of hope filled my being, and I thought, “That’s my friend. I’m going to see him again!”

He followed the craft as it hovered over a valley at approximately 2,000–3,000 ft from him and 300–500 ft above. Adamski quickly took photos, which later turned out to show good detail of the craft he described to be:

• 36 ft in diameter
• 15 to 20 ft in height

Adamski cautiously approached and, within 100 ft, noticed that one of the portholes was open and that a hand was extended from it.

The Government’s Visit

George Adamski requested a meeting with representatives of government agencies. Two men came to his house and listened intently to his stories. What stood out the most from this visit was the representatives’ lack of surprise or doubt about his story.

These men were highly intelligent men and well-poised, and it may be part of their jobs to display no reaction toward anything reported to them. But my reaction toward their attitude was that they realized I was giving them just another report of a type of happening not unfamiliar to them.

February 18, 1953: More Beings from Other Planets

Adamski’s subsequent encounter happened in Los Angeles. It was 10:30 in the evening when two posh-looking men approached him; one of them even addressed him by his name. Adamski thought they were “average young businessmen,” but later he would realize how wrong he was.

He described both as well-proportioned and in business suits, but noted that one was slightly taller and looked older than the other.

The shorter one greeted him, and that was when Adamski realized they weren’t humans.

He extended his hand, and when it touched mine, a great joy filled me. The signal was the same as had been given by the man I had met in the desert on that memorable November 20, 1952. I knew that these men were not inhabitants of Earth.

The two invited Adamski somewhere, and without hesitation, he went with them. They took him in a car, introduced themselves as from Mars and Saturn, and told him they had a surprise for him.

I saw in the distance a soft-white glowing object on the ground … I recognized its close resemblance to the Saucer or Scout of my first meeting. I noticed that a man was standing on the ground beside the glowing craft … To my great joy, I recognized my friend.

Inside the Venusian Ship

The trio went aboard a ship and straight into a one-room cabin compartment. As they entered, a hum started to be heard, and the top of the craft’s circular wall began to glow red. The craft that they were in glided toward a mother ship, where he saw another being.

• He was holding something like a metal clamp attached to a cable.
• He was about 5’5.
• He had a darker complexion than the others.
• He was dressed in a brown flying suit.
• He had black hair that peeked out from under a beret-like cap.

They then entered a large, rectangular control room with rounded corners. Adamski estimated it to be 35 by 45 ft and about 40 ft in height.

• The walls were covered with graphs and charts.
• There were three tiers of platforms with many instruments.
• There were telescopes at the top and bottom of the platform.

More space people were inside the craft, and they attended to Adamski with nothing short of hospitality. Soon after the craft took off, he was told they were 50,000 miles away from Earth, and there he had his first glimpse of outer space.

Adamski’s Meeting with the Master

Adamski was invited to dine with the space people, and a much older man joined them.

It was impossible not to realize that I was in the presence of a greatly evolved being, and the attitude of all present clearly indicated that they, as well as I, felt very humble before him. I learned that his age, in his present body, was close to one thousand years.

This master or great teacher went on to tell Adamski about tales of their life and travel in the solar system. He went on explaining that the different planets may be more similar than he’d imagine, emphasizing that “worlds are but forms,” which are governed by forms like humans.

The overriding message this great teacher left him was one of love and unity. It seemed evident that he wanted to convey that these inhabitants lived the same way as anybody else.

The purpose of life on other worlds is basically the same as yours. Inherent in all mankind, however deeply buried it may be, is the yearning to rise to something higher.

February 26, 1965: His Last Known Encounter

After the ones mentioned above, George Adamski would have several more encounters and space flights. However, none of these became as immensely discussed as the one he had on February 26, 1965, with Madeleine Rodeffer.

They were at Rodeffer’s house when Adamski claimed that his space friend told him to get cameras ready because they were coming. The sighting, which was filmed, occurred at 3:30 PM and would later be examined by several professionals.

Three more spacemen came and knocked at the door just before the incident, and Mr. Adamski went. They told him, “Get your cameras ready. They’re coming.” That’s how close he was associated with those people from other planets.

Rodeffer claimed that they immediately rushed to her porch to start filming. The craft hovered near her place for approximately 10 minutes, and throughout, she managed to get glimpses of people through its round windows.

It was round, and there were three of these landing gears retracting in and out, and they told George later it was for stabilization. They were moving, putting on this performance for Mr. Adamski to back up his efforts to get the world leaders to tell the truth about the visitors from other planets.

The Investigation Over the Film

Several professionals were involved in investigating the film taken during this encounter. While they didn’t conclude that the object filmed was a UFO, they did affirm its credibility.

Our Earth has been created out of space or within space. If it’s created within space, then space itself must have had elements of which this Earth could be made up. We have the evidence that space does have such elements of which bodies can be made of.

Within our system, we find planet Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and all the others. They were born of that same system, and they naturally are going to have the same combination and chemical composition as our Earth. Therefore, we find it would reproduce the same kind of form in every detail, like that of birds, animals, and humans.

Space Travel Is Common, and They Will Soon Land in Public

During his conversation with Orthon, Adamski also asked if space people frequently traveled, to which the space man affirmed. He also asked why none of these trips were made in areas where many people could observe.

To this, he made me understand that there would be a tremendous amount of fear on the part of the people, and probably the visitors would be torn to pieces by the Earth people, if such public landings were attempted.

Orthon then added that such a time will come when they will land in populated areas, but this won’t happen any time soon.
