Paul Hellyer was a Canadian Parliament member for nearly 40 years, serving in several positions during that period, including Minister of Defense (MoD) from 1963 to 1967.

During his tenure as MoD, he made the drastic and controversial decision to integrate the navy, army, and air force into a single unit called the Canadian Forces. This move aimed to make military operations faster and more fluid, thus enhancing its efficiency.

He also made other significant contributions, including:

• Modernizing the military equipment to keep the Canadian Forces competitive and ready
• Advocating peacekeeping missions that show Canada as a force for stability and peace
• Reforming the military’s financial oversight to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency

His Encounter with UFOs

In an interview with Russia Today, Paul Hellyer claimed to have seen a UFO while celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving near Lake Muskoka. 

Back then, his wife wanted to look at the stars. While she looked into the eastern sky, he looked the other way. The one he saw was much brighter than the other stars that night. 

He was convinced it was “definitely a UFO because it could change position in the sky by three or four degrees in three or four seconds.” No satellites could do what it did, and no space station could move as fast as it did; therefore, the only explanation was that it was a UFO.

He went back two days later and saw that it appeared “almost at the same spot.” He found its activity interesting, stating, “it would drop down in the sky and then it would roar back up and it would shift across a few degrees and do a circle and come back at just an astronomical speed.”

His Beliefs About the UFO Phenomenon

UFOs are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head.—The now-famous statement was said during Paul Hellyer’s keynote speech at the 2005 Toronto Symposium on UFO Disclosure and Planetary Directions. His bold statement paved the way for him to be included in the UFO community and gain widespread recognition both within and outside of it.

UFOs Exist on Earth

Hellyer believed that UFOs were real and had been visiting Earth for thousands of years. 

One piece of evidence he cited was the sightings that occurred in 1961, during the Cold War. Around 50 unidentified crafts were seen flying south from Russia and across Europe. The Supreme Allied Commander was about to hit the panic button when these crafts turned around and went back over the North Pole.

The military camp investigated this sighting for three years. They concluded with absolute certainty that extraterrestrials were visiting us.

Multiple Extraterrestrial Species

According to the reports Hellyer had gotten, there could be around 80 species visiting and having visited Earth. Some of them looked like us, humans, and we wouldn’t know that we had walked past one. 

Three of the species he named were the Nordic Blondes, Tall Whites, and Short Greys. Here was what he said about each of them:

• Nordic Blondes – could pass as a European citizen
• Tall Whites – said to live on U.S. Air Force property and work with the USAF (for the Tall Whites’ advanced technology)
• Short Greys – similar to what was depicted in cartoons—very short, had slim arms and legs, a big head, and big eyes

These species originated from various star systems, including Zeta Reticuli and the Pleiades. Some were from our own Solar System, like one of Saturn’s moons.

ETs Are Benign and Benevolent

The extraterrestrial species that came to Earth might have different agendas, but according to Hellyer, nearly all are “benign and benevolent.” They came to help us, as they’re very concerned about how we run our planet. 

ETs Possess Advanced Technologies

Extraterrestrials were lightyears ahead of us in terms of technology. Hellyer claimed that many of the things we have today were developed from technologies we acquired from them, such as LED lights, microchips, and Kevlar vests. 

He also mentioned that we could have gained a lot more, especially in the fields of medicine and agriculture, had we not focused our attention on acquiring their military technology.
